The Central Jersey Council of Governments Will Hold Its First Formal Meeting Tonight

The Central Jersey Council of Governments recently formed to study and implement regional shared services. Its holding its first formal meeting tonight at 6:30PM at the Marlboro Township Municipal Building. Governor Jon Corzine will inaugurate the officers of the Council and give the keynote speech.

The formation of the CJCOG is the result of several months of brainstorming between leaders in several municipalities. "The Central Jersey Council of Governments will provide participating communities with a continuing and decisive path foward," says Marlboro Mayor Jonathan Hornik, President-designate of the CJCOG. "We have long heard that a regional appraoch to shared services, planning and governmental cooperation is the way of the future - but the future is now, says Brian Valentino, CJCOG's Shared Services Advisor.

The CJCOG has already discussed ideas such as regional animal control and waste management.
