With gloom and doom dominating media headlines in regards to the economy on a daily basis, Ocean County College - along with Ocean First Bank want the public to know that things are on the road to recovery. A special economic summit will be held Monday from 8:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the OCC Gymnasium.
Several panelists will lead the talk on various issues from healthcare, tourism, energy and education. Dave Wolfe, who serves as the Assistant to the President of Ocean County College, is one of the organizers and he says a lot of attention will be given to the positvies instead of the negatives.
The summit is open to the public and Wolfe says "the problems we are facing now in the economy will be addressed with solutions and a chance to take action." He says "We're looking at the positive aspects and taking advantage of the situation - what's available for the business community and the people who live here."
The guest list includes 3rd District Congressman John Adler, Ocean County Freeholder Joe Vicari, Ben Waldron of the Monmouth-Ocean Development Council and Ocean County School Superintendent Dr. Bruce Greenfield. Each will take the podium along with a slew of other guests that will cover various topics. Dr. James Hughes from the Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers will be discussing the economic forecast for the Garden State. A discussion on President Barack Obama's Economic Stimulus Plan will also be discussed.
A continental breakfast and lunch will be served during the forum. For more information on the session, call 732-255-0400 extension 326. I will have more on the summit this Monday and Tuesday as we cover the event.
